HIV/AIDS and Food Insecurity: Breaking the Vicious Cycle
Dr Renzaho and colleagues argues that HIV/AIDS and food security are locked in a vicious cycle in which food insecurity heightens susceptibility to HIV/AIDS, which in turn increases vulnerability to food insecurity. The loss of labor and life associated with HIV/AIDS has severe impacts on agriculture, rural livelihoods, and household nutrition status; it is undermining every aspect of food security- availability, stability, access to and utilization of food- particularly in those areas with high prevalence rates.
